Prof. Ajitsinh P. Rana is a renowned educationist, meticulous researcher, avid writer and gifted administrator. He is the former Registrar, Saurashtra University, Rajkot and former Regional Director, National Council for Teacher Education, NRC, Jaipur. He was posted on deputation as an Additional Secretary to Governor of Karnataka, Raj Bhavan, Bangaluru. Currently he is working with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University, Ahmedabad (NAAC Accredited with A++ Grade (3.55/4)as a Professor and Director, School of Education, Distance Education and Educational Technology since 1st February 2017.
Dr. Rana has earned excellent academic credentials and own special interests in educational & administrative reforms, research in education, creative writing & editing, freelance journalism and sports & cultural activities.
Dr. Rana is a visionary leader in the field of education and contributed immensely to impart skill based pedagogy from secondary education as a teacher to higher education as a Registrar of Saurashtra University and as a Regional Director of National Council for Teacher Education and Additional Secretary to Governor of Karnataka. He is a great educational reformer and strongly believes in the instruction of value based education for the younger generation.
He is a dedicated and scrupulous researcher. He has published about 54 research papers in reputed journals and presented papers in various national and international conferences. His pioneering research has been vastly cited in highly rated journals. He has successfully guided 13 PhDs and 26 Students of M.Ed; M.Phil; for their projects in the frontier areas of research in the field of education.
His keen interest in scholarly writing has resulted in the publication of 28 books and many edited books & SLM have been published. These books are very popular among teaching and student fraternities. He is a popular editor of various academic journals and magazines and his exemplary editorial work has earned him prodigious laurels. He is an editorial board member of various journals of national and international repute. He is a columnist in ‘Sandesh’ a leading daily Gujarati News Paper.
He is recipient of prestigious Microsoft Education Partner Award bestowed by Microsoft Inc., Singapore. He is conferred with best subject teacher award, best practices award in education for teacher educator and twice best research paper awards and Life Time Achievement Award by GERA He is a subject expert of various committees nominated by UGC, Universities, Chairman & member NAAC Peer Team as well as peer team member of National Council for Teacher Education, New Delhi.
He has convened various national and international conferences well-attended by luminary scholars across the globe. He was president, vice president, secretary, trustee, life member, member of advisory committees of reputed professional bodies such as Educational Researchers’ Association, Hindu Astrological Society UK, India Chapter, International Forum for Research in Education, All India Association of Educational Researchers’ Association, and Indian Association of Experiment in International Living etc.
He is a zealous academic and builder of many academic institutions. He was core member of the committees that designed by Gujarat Technological University, Children’s University, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat University and IASE (D) University, Sardar Shahar, Rajasthan etc. He is also nominated by UGC as a member of BOM at various colleges. Currently he is contributing as a member of General Body at NCTE.
Dr. Rana has visited various countries such as UK, USA, Singapore and Nepal for academic purpose. He has established meaningful interactions with the academics of these countries to study their pedagogy and strived successfully to implement the merits in India.
